Anil Gaur

Anil Gaur had a dream that started in his childhood—a dream to tell stories, to create worlds that would touch hearts and change lives through the magic of cinema. But life, with its inevitable turns, had other plans. Family responsibilities and societal expectations guided him down a different path, one where he became an engineer, a role that, on the surface, seemed a safe bet for stability and success.

In the world of engineering, Anil excelled. He led the development of the Java Enterprise Platform and helped steer multi-billion-dollar organizations to new heights. His professional life was a symphony of success, accolades, and the kind of recognition most could only dream of. But despite the corporate triumphs and leadership roles, something was missing. A spark, a passion that had never truly been extinguished, remained alive within him—his love for filmmaking.

Then, the world changed.

During the uncertainty of the pandemic, Anil experienced a profound realization: life was fleeting, unpredictable, and nothing could be taken for granted. The status quo no longer felt enough. The burning desire to tell stories through film, to create something that mattered, could no longer be ignored. The decision to leave his high-flying career was a radical one, but it was the only way he could honor the dream he had carried for so long.

And so, Random Drifts was born—a platform that not only allowed Anil to finally step into the world of filmmaking but also created space for others who shared the same dream but lacked the opportunity to pursue it. The vision was clear: to provide a platform where passionate, talented individuals could create, learn, and grow without the fear of having to abandon their livelihoods. People who had dreams but couldn’t afford to leave their jobs were given the opportunity to shine.

Since its inception, Random Drifts has already touched the lives of over 500 people in the Bay Area. Each project carries a purpose, addressing social issues and real-life concerns, ensuring that the work is meaningful and impactful. The platform is not afraid to take risks, offering opportunities to individuals with no prior experience but a heart full of passion. For Anil, the fun lies not in the end result, but in the process—the journey of creation, learning, and growing together.

Even as Random Drifts thrives, Anil continues to keep his engineering heart alive. He invests in and mentors startups, coaching and guiding senior executives in tech. His strength lies in bootstrapping new companies and scaling existing ones, making him a key figure in both the tech and creative worlds.

Anil’s story is one of courage, transformation, and following one’s true calling. It’s a testament to the power of dreams—how they may evolve, how they may be delayed, but how, with enough heart and persistence, they can still come to life in the most unexpected and beautiful ways.

About 5 years ago, when Anil narrated a story to me, I inadvertently started describing the screenplay to him. Anil said, ‘Why don’t you write this down?’. That was the start of my journey with Random Drifts as a script/screenplay writer.
